So a few months after I got pregnant with Phil, my contact lenses stopped being comfortable and I switched back to glasses full time. It didn’t seem too strange to me; I had read that your eyes can get really dry when you’re prego. So when Phil was born, I tried wearing contacts again and no dice. They just didn’t feel good when they were in and I had to take em out. So I decided to just wear glasses for a while, and it was totally cool.

We went to the eye doctor last week for a checkup, and I was telling my doctor I was just going to go with glasses for a while. And he’s like ok that’s cool, but consider the new wear them for 1 day disposable lenses. They may be good for things like swimming where you don’t want to wear glasses. Here, have some free samples.

OOOOOOOkay I says. And I take the free contact lenses. And I put them in. And omg they felt great. A few days later, I compared the numbers on the side of my new lenses with the numbers on the side of my old lenses that felt crappy in my eyes. The numbers were all different – like every aspect of my eyes has changed since Phil came along and it creeps me out! Every aspect except for that pesky blind spot. Wah wah wahhhhh.

Moral of the story folks:

get your vision checked!

I like that wordpress on my phone has been on strike for weeks in terms of uploading photos, and in frustration I try to upload this doodle and it worked. Figures. Happy weekend, everyone!

I just wanted to share the progress on a wedding cake topper I’ve been commissioned to paint for an upcoming wedding! I love working collaboratively on projects like this, it really turns out a unique result. The bride has all kinds of quirky, eclectic and handmade elements she’s incorporating into her wedding, including a bouquet made of vintage brooches and earrings. It was such happy kismet when I poked through my collection of vintage plastic flower beads for the girlBot’s headpiece and found one random sparkly flowery vintage clip-on earring that looked perfect to use as a bouquet!

I can’t wait to show you guys more progress on this piece – I’ll be continuing work on it this weekend!
