Film at 11!
I sat down to get a couple of things done before work this morning, and I turned the news on as background noise. And thanks to CNN, every news show now has that scrolly bar of headlines that goes across the bottom of the screen.
One of the headlines caught my eye this morning – it was something to the effect of a scientific study finding that alcohol consumption has been found to lessen pain caused by rheumetoid arthritis. And it just really made me laugh, because uhhh… the pain is probably still there, but if the test subject is wasted then the arthritis pain is the last thing on their minds. They’re more interested in where the hookers at.
So basically, if science has taught us one thing, it’s this: have some wine, you’ll be fine.
sex and the knitty
a couple of years ago, my friend gayle and I embarked on a mission to watch all six seasons of sex and the city. (we have very lofty goals!) every now and then, we’ll get together for another chunk of episodes, some drinks, and delicious food, and we’ve been very lax about getting through all of em. as summer gets going, bringing with it the knowledge that gayle’s moving to la in the fall to go to ucla, we have re-visited the quest and are trying to finish up season 6!
it’s been awesome because I haven’t really seen any of season 6 so while i had a general idea what the storylines were, these episodes are all new to me. and barishnakov is still pretty cute these days.
so last night we got together, gayle made tasty thai food for dinner, and we got our knit on as we watched four hours or so of SATC. we are so close to finishing, and plans are being formulated to watch the last two episodes over the 4th of July weekend!
what cracks my ass up about this show is all the superdrama that happens over lame shit, but actual dramatic events are completely glossed over. like there was an episode last night where candice bergen’s character is at a party complaining about being single and there’s shenanigans because she starts flirting with SJP’s boyfriend. drama drama drama! and then the chick from 3rd rock from the sun accidentally falls out of a window and DIES and it’s a super-minor thing that gets glossed over. I love this show, but stuff like that is a little weird.
since I wasn’t really keeping track of counting rows when I was knitting that baby sock at last week’s etsy craft party, I started over on it AGAIN, and by now I am an expert at that strange faux-cable texture they got goin on in the pattern! I just gotta knit a toe on this thing today and sock 1 is finished!!
if we don’t delivery your baby in 30 minutes or less, it’s free.
ok guys you may or may not know this already, but i heart glee. it’s more than a tiny bit ridiculous and overdramatic but MAN do i love me some glee.
josh and his brother chris were patient enough to sit through the season finale with me last night and there’s just a couple of things that uhhh… left me confused and a tiny bit freaked out.
at the end of the episode, it’s the big finale competition – all our little gleekazoids are singing their hearts out. they do great, and are super-pumped as they leave the stage. as they’re walking backstage, prego teen quinn’s estranged mom shows up. she tells her how she just wanted to hear her sing, and how good she did, and how she left quinn’s two-timing father, and please move back home. and then POW with almost no warning or contractions or anything (she did look a little pained leaving the stage, i’ll give her that) quinn’s water breaks.
so EVERYONE rushes quinn to the hospital as the glee competition continues, and the other group is performing “bohemian rhapsody”. here’s where it got weird (awesome?) for me – in the timeline of the show, they got quinn to the hospital, admitted her, parked the car, got her in her hospital gown and on the stirrups table, and she pushed out her kid all within queen’s 5 minute, 55 second 1970′s masterpiece. AND there was time enough for everyone (except quinn who may have been recovering but who knows) to get back to the competition after the song to find out they lost.
wah wah wahhhhhhhhhhhh (trumpet noise!)
ok so here’s my question – is bohemian rhapsody a universally accepted method of quick delivery? like in september, when i start having labor pains, can i pop in my night at the opera cd and blast that shit and POW A BABY! or do i have to go through 14 some-odd hours of labor like my sister did? the glee method, though it didn’t seem to involve any painkillers, seems much easier. someone get freddie mercury on the line and find out if i can cut the delivery time down to 3 minutes if the band is actually playing in the delivery room.
what? he’s not around? blast.
if the nurses do the waynes world headbanging thing i will punch every one of them.
hearts and laserbeams on tv! WHAT!!?!?!

i’m finishin off my night with watching some dancing with the stars. i can’t help it i get sucked in every season – who’s your favorite to win? i know steve-o’s probably gonna get shitcanned in the first few weeks, but i’d love to see him take the championship and go on to star in save the last dance 3: revenge of julia stiles’ ghost!
guess what i like pancakes!
ok, just in case you haven’t heard…
i’m obsessed with nannerpuss.
have you seen nannerpuss? he was the star of a dennys superbowl ad, and he is AWESOME. you can see for yourself if you click on this link. you’ll recognize him on the page as the yellow octopus-like chap sitting jauntily atop a pile of delicious pancakes! deeeeeelicious i tell you!
my favorite part of the commercial, is if you watch real close he actually rips one of his eyes off half-way through. THAT is how committed he is to selling you hot tasty dennys breakfasts!
anyhow, i am cleaning up for an open house this morning, sat down for what was supposed to be five minutes to answer a couple of emails, and ended up making this:
the question for you the public: what do you think of nannerpuss and wouldn’t you like to see more of him? comments please!

awesome, awesome, awesome
ok i can’t find footage of this and it makes me so angry!!!
typically i’m not the sort who watches dancing with the stars and the bachelor and all that… but i had channel 7 on last night and forgot about tv for a while, and then when i came back to it adam carolla was dancing the mutha effin fox trot! WTF!!! and then i watched the rest of the episode.
my recap: dancing with the stars is really just kind of weird, and steve guttenburg is either high, or creepy or both and everyone should stay about 50 feet away from him at all times.
and then came the bachelor, which i’m slightly more inclined to watch because it involves completely trashy television. the highlight in last night’s premiere was one trashy broad from chicago who got COMPLETELY PLASTERED at that first night’s meet your bachelor and try not to get sent home first party. she had bleach blond hair, huge fake boobs and a bright blue sequiny dress, and swore up a storm.
at one point when the dude was talking to another girl she comes up and in her drunken stuper says something completely unintelligible while trying to put something in his pocket. you hear the guy telling her “i don’t have a pocket there” a couple of times, and then she tucks this note or whatever into the waistband of his pants and leaves. leaves to go pass out from being the drunkest at the party. yay! so he goes back to talking to this other girl and they end up deciding to look at whatever it is drunkho left him and IT WAS HER UNDERWEAR!
so… uh… she got sent home last night. and the show got boring again. will i tune in next week? stay tuned to find out!!!
public enemy number 1!
AHAHAHAHAHAH ok my sister danielle found this clip on youtube and it’s AWESOME. years ago wayne brady sung to my sister michelle on who’s line and for that you should probably send me fifty bucks!
keep an eagle eye out, you may be able to see yours truly when they’re gettin’ my sister outta her seat!
